Attention musicians and artists

Three things!

First:

I’m looking for people who can play instruments, or have a good singing voice, and have good recording equipment. This is for something unrelated to Homestuck, but I feel that I really could use some outside help.

As many of you know, I’ve been working on an album called Substance for about 11 months now, technically longer if you consider the collection of songs in it, and ironically technically less if you take out the time I took off from Substance to work on Prospit & Derse.

I realized that the only way I can wrap up this album is to get a bit of outside help! I’m not 100% sure what I want yet, but we’ll get there.

Second:

I’d like song art for each song on Substance. I loved what people did for Prospit & Derse but this album will have a much different focus. I want the overall scheme for the entire album to match the album’s cover that Eric Podlin designed (he also designed this site), and I really don’t want character art, but I will take exceptions if I like the design enough.

Third:

I WILL be doing a livestream tonight at about 9 or 10 PM eastern, and another one tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the tutorial stream that I had previously promised, at about 6 PM eastern.

Hi! I played violin for a couple tracks in volume 8. I also play viola (and ocarinas and recorders but lololol). I guess I sing to some extent - my voice isn't too strong, but if you need something softer...??

Welp. I wasn’t expecting you to answer, Kelly. Yes, yes, I would absolutely love some live violin or viola. Now to see if I can find a cellist and a bassist. \o/ As for vocals, I do have someone in mind for female vocals, but please, send me some recordings, I think might end up doing a lot of guests all over the album anyway!

And actually, that includes everyone. Contact me directly with some recordings of yours for whatever instrument you can provide. The auditions are oonnn.

This is a song I should’ve posted quite a long time ago here. It’s one of my best, I’d say.

All that’s lacking from it is a bit of live recording. :D

Good news everyone!

And not in the Professor Farnsworth way.

Real good news.

First, I am setting all of my music on Bandcamp to “pay what you want” again. Why? Well, I’m in a very good financial situation now, so I see no reason to ask for the money. Exception to this is all Block Monster music. Sorry!

Second, to those of you whom I still owe commissions, I haven’t forgotten about you. I’m sorry I haven’t gotten around to it, but I will! I just have been doing a lot of things.

Third, and this is the big one…

I am reviving Substance as a concept album.

Yes, concept album. I’m going to rework the material, and write new material, to make it a full concept album instead of just a collection of drum and bass songs. I’m excited about this because it’ll let me practice a few things I haven’t done in awhile, namely writing a story, writing lyrics, and other related things. It’ll possibly have a comic to go along with it, but I’m going to have to talk to my friends whom are illustrators and see if any of them are interested.
